LEAP-Lebanon Innovation District

Map of proposed location of LEAP-Lebanon project

Project Overview

The LEAP-Lebanon Innovation District is a manufacturing and corporate campus industrial area to be constructed outside of Lebanon, IN.

Tippecanoe SWCD's Position

Our office has heard concerns from residents of Tippecanoe County over plans for the project to make significant withdrawals of water from the Teays River aquifer.  The SWCD is not a regulatory agency and is not involved in the evaluation or approval of the project.

However, the SWCD does promote and assist landowners in implementing land management practices that improve water infiltration and aquifer recharge.  Contact us anytime for assistance on your land.

Teays River Aquifer Assessment

As part of the planning process for the project, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation commissioned a study by INTERA Inc. to assess the capacity of the Teays River aquifer.

An executive summary of the study is available here.

A video summarizing results is available here.

Indiana Policies on Water Withdrawals

In April 2023, Purdue University and the White River Alliance hosted a forum on the sustainable use of Indiana's water resources.  The discussion includes an overview of  policies regarding individuals with existing wells that may be impacted by future water withdrawals.

A recording of the forum is available here.
